• Arnoub is annoyed by “Filo” who came to live next to him, although Filo tried hard not to bother him. We can talk to our child about our experience when other family members share our personal space, like our room, or use our personal belongings. Do we react as Arnoub did, or try to find different ways to live together?
• We can talk to children about a place inside or outside the house where they feel safe and relaxed. We can talk about what makes the place special, and what children likes to do there, and about things or people that they like to take along.
• Let’s build a house together! It can be a “house” under the table, or a tent made of sheets.
• Some animals refused to let Arnoub into their homes, until he found company with “Arnouba”( a female rabbit). We can talk with children about best friends: what makes them our favorites, and how does you child to spend time with them?
• “What is this animal that has thick hair around his head, a big mouth and sharp claws?” asks Arnoub. We can have fun making up riddles around animals!
• Invite the child to read together repetitive sentences in the story, like the sentences that Arnoub says every time he meets a new animal.
• The book’s illustrations are made using wax crayons. Invite your child to experiment working with different kinds of colors: wax, water, oil. Consider gluing shredded paper in various colors to enjoyably shape a house to the child’s taste.
